Killing geese or ducks isn’t required to collect down, and, in fact, down is apparently more valuable if it is “live-plucked,” i.e., plucked from a bird that is still alive, so, because of this it’s impossible to tell how many die in the making of, also since the goose farmers probably don’t publish records of how many geese die in the process. However, I can tell you that it takes feathers from 75 birds to make one down comforter, so maybe you can hazard a guess on how many die from that.
