it takes about 16,000 board feet, the main measurement of wood usable in a tree, to build the framework for a house and approximately 11,000 feet for paneling and other uses in a 2,000 square foot house. At most the average tree has about 2,300 board feet available for use, and that is on the high end. The average is around 1,200 feet. Going with the 2,300 board feet assumption, it takes about 27,000 board feet to build an average sized house, so it would take at least 11.7 trees to build one house, if the trees were large. Estimation of anywhere from 11 to 30 trees to build a house.
