It depends on the type of grass and how much. It is recommended that most types grass get an average of one inch of water each week. You can measure the amount of water grass gets with a rain gauge. The amount of water actually used depends on the area which the grass covers.
Kentucky bluegrass, St. Augustine grass and bermuda grass are among several types of grass that don’t need quite as much water and can withstand dry conditions.
