    Without suggesting that wasting water is a good thing, 525,600 gallons per year is almost literally a drop in the bucket of consumption. The US uses 345 billion gallons of fresh water per DAY, or 125 trillion gallons per year. That leakage figure is an incredibly small percentage of the total — less than one millionth of one percent.
