How many gallons of fuel does large machinery like bull dozers and graders use in a day?

The caterpillar D7 Dozer, a medium sized model employed by the United States Military for their projects, consumes on average 6 gallons of fuel per hour. Assuming an 8 hour day, this means nearly 50 gallons of fuel are used daily. Compared to a hybrid vehicle that can achieve 50 miles per gallon, this would be the equivalent fuel consumption of driving 2500 miles!
