The head and body of a hippo usually grow to about 9.5-14 feet.  The tail is usually 13.75-19.75 inches long.  The average weight is 5,000-8,000 pounds.  National Geographic compares them in size to that of a six foot man.

The Hippo is the third largest land animal based on weight (elephant and white rhino are larger). They average five feet tall and about 15 feet long.
