Pets have become a common part of American households. Several things can keep families from getting animals however including income, allergies, and living situation. 32.7% of all American families have dogs. What this translates into, is approximately 2 dogs per dog household.
37 percent of households own a dog. Of that 37 percent of households, they average 1.7 dogs per household. The average American family has .63 dogs, but that is a little funny since you cannot own a part of a dog.
