How many different “wastes” like plant chaff, sewage, animal wastes, etc. could be used to generate energy?

Virtually everything that is organic; plant matter, animal waste, compost, dead animals, etc. must go through a process known as decomposition. During this process, bacteria and microorganisms break down the organic matter into different nutrients and chemicals. During this process, energy can be harnesses in the form of the outputs created. In this sense, any organic materials can become some sort of fuel (which we see as more and more landfills begin to generate electricity from methane emissions from decomposition).
