There are three main types of biofuels: biodiesel, bioalcohols, and biogasses. Biodiesel, which comes from decomposed vegetable oil, is the most commonly used biofuel today. Butanol, ethanol, and propanol are all bioalcohols, which are created from bacterias. The most common biogas is methane but so far biofuels have not been produced and used on a large enough scale to put a dent in fossil fuel consumption.
