There are infinite types of waste because waste could be anything really. By definition, waste is unused, unwanted stuff. Therefore, it is just anything that is discarded. This ranges from the things we traditionally think of as waste like trash to nutrients not used by the body. The other way of thinking though is that nothing is waste really. Everything can be used for something else, we just may not be using everything to the full potential. For example, when a cow grazes its body absorbs nutrients from its food, then discards unused or spent things through excretion. This could be thought of as waste, however it is also manure that fertilizes the ground where it is left to help new plants grow and all kinds of insects and bacteria to live.
