The beef cattle industry has maintained its value over the last five years.  The retail value of beef in 2008 was 76 billion dollars, an increase from 74 billion the year before.  The consumption for 2008 was 23.7 billion pounds.  This translates into 94.5 million cattle.  The beef industry is a growing industry that according to the statistics, is heavily utilized  by our protein-dense consumer population.
