Very few are killed just for leather. Leather is a by-product of the beef industry.
According tot he Stock Show Info website “Number of cows killed in the U.S. each year: 6.3 million”
That’s just in the US, lots of the beef and leather in this country is imported.
Much of the leather you find in America come from animals such as kangaroos, alligators, snakes and other animals that are similar to cows in other countries.
