Currently, there are a total of 434 nuclear power plants in operable condition located in 31 different countries. Additionally, one country (Iran) which has no current plants is building one (which they insist is for “peaceful” use), and eight more countries who do not have operational plants are planning to build them. The nation with the most nuclear power plants is the United States, with 104, followed by France in second place with Japan at 53, Russia at 31 and South Korea with 20.
