The US exports corn to about 12 countries, Japan and China buy the most corn from the United States. These countries do not have space to grow enough food for their own so they must import from other countries.
Corn is one of the most space intensive crops in the world of agriculture, requiring specific land management strategies, large tracts of land, and lots and lots of pest control. The unique properties of American land and farming policy makes America the number one producer and exporter of corn in the world. As such, the US provides corn to 12 major countries (most of whom do not have the resources — either in total land space or in government support — to successfully grow corn on a massive scale).
