How many trees could be saved by cutting down on excess packaging in consumer products?

It’s impossible to know how much packaging is being used in all of the consumer products in the country (or the world!) but we can look at Dell as an example; a company that has pledged to reduce its packaging by 10% and to use bamboo and recycled products to decrease the environmental impact of the packaging.

The goal is to make this 10% reduction over the next 4 years.  Numbers show that this will reduce 20 million pounds of packaging, which means they are saving 150,000 trees.

This is just one company, reducing only 10% over 4 years.  Imagine if every company made such a pledge.
