Parrots reflect many colors due to the scattering of light in a phenomenon known as the Tyndall effect, and also because of pigments in their feathers. So parrots can be green, yellow, red and even blue. Melanin also affects the color of parrot feathers, making them darker or lighter according to how much of it is present in them.
