Landfills in the United States are filling up at a really fast rate. In fact, it’s estimated that the landfills around the world are closing at a rate of 1 per day. So that would be somewhere around 365 landfills shutting down last year. The amount of garbage that we have continued to throw away despite these problems is astonishing. You can read about lots of  very sobering garbage statistics here.
