The average US home has about 45 light bulbs in it. If you start out with that many incandescent bulbs and switch them all over to CFLs, you can save about $180 each year on your energy bill, in addition to taking a large chunk out your home’s carbon footprint. However, many homeowners still have yet to make the switch to CFLs, and even those who have begun may not have replaced all their old bulbs as yet. Replacing even one incandescent bulb from every house in the US with a CFL would save an amount of energy capable of light three million houses for a year. You can just imagine the impact of replacing all 45 of the bulbs in an average American household!
