    It depends on the type of fish. According to fishery guidelines, it is not suggested to stock more than 3 fish per acre of bluegills, salmon, fingerlings, sunfish, catfish, or carp and no more than 10 per acre of bass.  Assuming the fish reproduce tenfold, that means 30-40 fish per acre.  To read more about fish-stocking and the number of fish a given body of water can support, see the link below.
