30 billion water bottles were sold in the US in 2005. The US consumes the most, followed by Mexico and China.
In the United States in 2004 alone, about 7 billion gallons of bottled water was consumed that year, which amounts to about one 12-ounce glass a day for every American. According to the World Wildlife Fund, in 2001, United States citizens consumed about 13 billions liters of bottled water. “A 2000 report conducted by Yankelovich Partneers of the Rockefeller University discovered that 2.3 eight-ounce servings of the total 6.1 servings of water that are consumed daily are bottled water in the U.S.” (http://academic.evergreen.edu/g/grossmaz/klessill/).
