Great question. According to GreenTechMedia.com approximately 100,000 birds are killed per year by wind turbines. While this number seems very large, it does not even compare to the mortality rates caused by glass windows, hunting, cats, automobiles, etc. Reportedly, glass windows are the number one cause of avian fatalities at an approximate 100-to-900 million deaths per year. Hunting and cats cause upwards of 100 million each and automobiles contribute 50-to-100 million.
