DDT was a popular WWII chemical but usually to de-louse POWs but was referred to as the “atomic bomb of pesticides.” There are also herbicides from Vietnam that are sold on store shelves, namely Agent Orange. Chemically it is two herbicides together, 2,4,-D (2,4, dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) and 2,4,5-T (2,4,5 trichlorophenoxyacetic acid). Both are sold now despite tests proving that the byproduct of dioxin is found in Vietnam soldiers in elevated amounts.
