According to the Nationa Air Controllers Association there are over 87,000 flights in U.S. skies each day. However, only about 1/3 of those are commercial airline flights.
There are almost 90,000 flights in the U.S. each day. (Obviously, some planes make more than one flight in a day.) That figure includes major airline traffic, private planes, cargo shipping, military flights and air taxis. “At any given moment, roughly 5,000 planes are in the skies above the United States,” according to the National Air Traffic Controllers Association.
