Northern California has 1.74 million acres of costal redwood forest.  Of this, 26% is protected in state or national parks.  Of the remainder 1.03 million acres of redwood reside in harvestable areas and of that, 80% of the trees are in a forest where the trees are taken in a certifiably sustainable manner.
