    The Aborigine population, also known as the Indigenous people and Torres Strait Islanders in Austrailia, is estimated to be 2.5% or 517,200 of the total population in Australia. The Aborigine population has doubled in the last 20 years. There is great diversity in the community and nowadays they are furthur divided into seperate communities

    The Australian Bureau of Statistics has estimated there are 562,681 Indigenous people living in Australia as of June 30, 2010. New South Wales accounts for the largest Aboriginal population, with 165,190 people. The Northern Territory had the highest proportion of Aborigine people at 30.5%.
