How low did the eagle population get before it started climbing again?

The Bald Eagle population in the lower 48 states reached as low as 417 nesting pairs. Since all the laws that were put in place to preserve the national bird it is estimated that now the eagle population as reached over 9,789 nesting pairs.
Annual data has not been administered by many government agencies and research groups since 2000 because it was assumed that the eagle population has made a remarkable comeback and constant attention to its population is no longer needed.
