How long is the warranty on electric car batteries?

The standard warranty on electric vehicles seems to be 8 years/100,000 miles.  This includes the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt.

Nissan considered both a 5 year/60,000 mile warranty, and a 10 year/150,000 mile warranty before settling on the 8 year plan.
