Tigresses often give birth to a litter of 2 or 3 cubs at a time, or sometimes more. It usually takes 103 day after mating with a male tiger before the female gives birth. The mother will feed them milk and teach them to hunt on their own. Sometimes the cubs will stay with their mothers for up to three years before going off on their own.

Bengal tigers live an average of 8 to 10 years in the wild. Tigers mate and produce a litter of 2 to 6 cubs. The mother raises them for two to three years with almost no help from the father. Once the cubs learn how to hunt for themselves, they leave and live alone, as tigers are solitary animals.
