Germany plans to be free of nuclear power by 2022. To do so, the German government has recently agreed to boost research in clean-energy research by 75%, pumping3.4 billion euros into renewables, energy efficiency, energy storage, and grid-tecnology research in the next 3 years. The plan is to eventually replace Germany’s 17 reactors with fossil-fuel-based power plants and renewable sources.
