The dangers of human-caused climate change have been documented for more than one hundred years. In 1896 the “greenhouse effect” was theorized by a Swedish scientist concerned by the increase of fossil fuel burning he observed. Amateur scientist G.S. Callendar warned about global warning back in 1930, but he was not believed. In the 1950s other scientists began to look more seriously at the idea.
