How long have we been producing renewable energy in America?

Well, if you count hydroelectric power, we’ve been producing it in the States since about 1880. Wind power was being developed in the US around the same time, but didn’t start being used for electricity until about 1941. Passive solar power also started gaining popularity in the 1940s due to a shortage of energy during the war years. Nuclear power went commercial in 1957. The link below includes timelines for several other types of energy.
