Pot bellied pigs were first introduced to the United States from Canada in the mid eighties. These first pigs came from zoos and were relatively large by today’s standards. Shortly after, two other lines of pigs were imported, and these pigs represent most of the genetic diversity that we see today. The first domestic pot bellied pigs originate from Southeast Asia, and Vietnam in particular.
