essentially, since we have had medications to dump and sinks to dump them down. Obviously, medications are not a recent development and excess medication have been dumped for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. The modern problem of medication residually remaining in our water systems is a problem as many medications use hormones and chemicals that are not easily broken down.
