According to, the rainforests have been growing and evolving over the course of millions and millions of years. The site goes on to mention that in “1950, about 15% of the Earth’s land surface was covered by rainforest.” However, this is rapidly changing since about 200,000 acres of rainforest are being cut down each day. And experts are predicting, again according to the Rainforest Facts website, that if nothing is done to slow, or even stop rainforest destruction, then we could be looking at our rainforests being completely gone fifty years from now.
