How long have the Andes mountains been forming?

    Well, the faults that eventually helped form the Andes mountains began to become active 25 million years ago. But, different parts of the Andes formed at different times. The central Andes are thought to have formed 10 million years ago, while the eastern Andes are much older, thanks to data collected from ancient pollen. These eastern mountains are closer to 25 million years old.
