Scientists have not been able to determine the exact age of the Earth by its rocks, but they have an estimate for the approximate age of our solar system. By assuming that Earth was formed when the other solid bodies in our system were formed, scientists have placed Earth’s age at 4.54 billion years old. They derived this number from meteorites from the Moon and space using radiometric dating techniques.
