In 2005, Nike launched their first environmentally friendly shoes called “Considered.” Ever since then, the company has been coming up with various eco-friendly shoes. Basically, Nike found that many customers were buying shoes for their look, comfort, and fit rather than for its sustainability. Therefore, “the lesson for Nike was that its green innovations should continue, but its customers shouldn’t be able to tell.”
since 1990 Nike has done the Nike reuse a shoe program and they have recycled over 25,056,779 shoes. They use the sole of the shoe to create things like rubber tracks, the fabric is used to make eco friendly basketballs, and the middle foam is used to go under tennis courts.
