Mercedes’ first diesel automobile was created in 1936. The Mercedes-Benz 260 D could produce 45 horsepower and 3,000 rpm and is considered one of the first passenger cars to ever implement a diesel engine. After their first diesel model 76 years ago, they have produced countless others and continue to do so today.
