Carbon dioxide molecules stay in the air between 100 and 500 years, with an average of 200-300 years. Considering the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is already at 387.27 ppm, this is a frighteningly long period of time that adds to the urgency of taking action to reduce emissions now.
