How long does pollution stay in the air?

The Kyoto Forest Association reports that CO2 has an atmospheric lifespan of anywhere between 50 to 200 years.  This means it will stay in air for at least fifty years until it is removed by a sink or becomes part of another chemical reaction.  Pollution has the potential to affect several generations once it is released into the air.
