It can take quite a while for your skin to totally recover from a sunburn. It can take up to two weeks for your skin to be completely over a sunburn. For the most part, the worst part of the burn will be gone after a couple days.
Acute sunburn becomes less painful in 2-3 days but the effects can last a lifetime. Two blistering sunburns before age 18 greatly increases lifetime risk of melanoma and cumulative sun exposure and sunburns cause other skin cancers, wrinkles, discolorations and superficial blood vessels. Vitamin D is produced in skin irradiated by ultraviolet light but it is much smarter to avoid ultraviolet light and take Vitamin D3 supplements so your hydroxy Vitamin D level is over 50.
