The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, launched in 2005, took 7.5 months from launch to orbital insertion around Mars.
Spirit took about 6 months from launch to landing on Mars. It depends on the particular mission.
It has taken roughly 6-8 months for many space probes and mineral gathering machines like the Mars rover projects to get to Mars. It may very well take the same amount of time for any future missions to Mars. I will guess that it may take around 8-9 months for any potential manned missions to Mars, due in part to the extra stuff a shuttle or space capsule would have to bring along on the journey. Apparently NASA is projecting to land man on Mars by 2033, ans so this generation may yet see this theory come to fruition.
