To kill most of the bad bacteria in water, all it takes is to get the water to a boil. 100 degrees C is enough to kill the bacteria, however many people suggest boiling for 5 minutes just to be extra safe. Boiling the water obviously won’t remove any of the silt or dirt in the water; youll need a more complex purifier for that, but if all you care about is water that wont make you sick, just a quick boil should do the trick.
