how long does it take one tree to offset a ton of carbon?

It depends on the type of tree!  Different trees absorb different amounts of carbon.  For example, pine trees absorb more carbon than maples.  Still, it would take about 50 years for 3 pine trees to absorb one ton of carbon, so it would take about 150 years for one to do it alone!

Trees are of different species, hieghts, shapes and sizes. It will be difficult to calculate this as trees absorb carbon depending on their ability to do so.
