Lake turnover is a seasonal proces that takes place gradually. Lake turnover happens twice a year and begins in the late summer or late winter, when surface waters have reached their maximum or minimum temperature. The changing of the seasons changes the temperature of the lake’s waters throughout the season.
Some lakes never turn over! If a lake is permanently frozen over, it is known as an amictic lake (no mix) lake.
Asking this question is like asking how tall does a tree grow. It depends upon the size of the lake.
