It depends on the type of aloe and how large you hope to grow it, but in general aloes are very fast growing plants given the right conditions. One website I found says that it will take 2 to 3 weeks after being planted before you will begin to see growth in an aloe plant. It takes a few weeks after that before the leaves grow to the extent that they become useful. Another website notes that aloe plants grow slower inside than they do outside, so it also depends on where you plant your aloe. If you want to start using your aloe plant fairly quickly, this site (the second one listed below) recommends you purchase “a large, more mature plant” for indoor growing.
