    Forever. Unfortunately, there is no evidence that polyurethane ever decomposes.  The attached article may be of interest to you.

    To add to what erincthomas said, it could be possible that polyurethane decomposes at some point, but that point is so far in the distant future and out of human and even humanity as a whole’s lifetime that it is hard to say. Manmade efforts have been made in labs to test the decomposition of various kinds of polyurethane to some extent, but nothing that could ever be mimicked in a natural decomposition process.

      To add on to this, scientists are worried that if there ever does reach a decomposition point, toxic chemicals will be released.
