Carbon dioxide is the gaseous inorganic form of carbon in the global carbon cycle. This cycle incluces the cycling of many forms of carbon through the atmosphere, bioshpere, and lithosphere, and marine environment. The residence time of carbon in each of these reservoirs depends primarily on the rates of biological growth or decay. The mean time of residence time of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is about thirteen years.
