Chicken Pox usually lasts between 5 and 10 days. A child can typically expect to miss 5 or 6 days of school when they contract the virus. A low grade fever for one or two days can usually be expected when the virus first appears, followed by 250-500 itchy spots all over the body. Symptoms can include high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, headache and dehydration. Symptoms of chicken pox most often occur in children under 15 years old.
