How long do tires last for on cars?

The actual mileage that you’ll be able to get from your tires will vary, but most good quality tires will last about 80,000 miles.

Some things that you can do to help get the most bang for your buck:

    • Work to maintain proper tire pressure on all four tires (the pressure is often listed directly on the tire or on the inside of the driver’s seat door).
    • Try not to carry additional weight in the car.  Even extra things like luggage or shopping bags (over time) can affect tire wear.
    • Avoid potholes, cracked roads and any road hazards that may cause damage (however slight) to the tires.
    • Check out your tires regularly to be aware of wear and tear, cuts or any other deformities that may affect the well-being of the tires.

It really depends on the type of tire as well as the conditions you are driving in.  The typical lifespan is about six years.  Hot weather will speed up the aging process.  It is important to regularly check the pressure of the tire.  Having them balanced, rotated, and aligned will also help to extend their life.
